I absolutely loved writing them. I have an affinity for love stories that have strong leads, not damsels, or men for that matter, who are waiting to be saved.
Rade, the eldest:
Rade’s father arranged his marriage to secure the family empire. Father knows best and all that :-). He never stopped thinking about the man he loved in college but never pursued. Fate puts that man back in his path at the most inconvenient time. Family loyalty or forbidden love: Rade has to choose.
This book is a departure of sorts for me, but love is love, and I am glad it has resonated with a lot of people.
Reed, the middle child
Reed buried himself in books and put as much distance as he could between himself and the family business.
He’s oblivious to his own appeal: He realizes too late what he missed when his assistant gets transferred away. When her safety is threatened, the Moretti in him comes out fast. Her parents find out about his mafia ties and give her an ultimatum. She has to make that choice.
I like this story because it teaches you that you never know what you’re capable of until pushed. That part is in all of us.
Ruth, the youngest
Ruth is done being kept on a tight leash. She wants to lead the family, patriarchal rules be damned, and she’s falling for Domingo, one of her father’s most trusted men.
He’s running secret schemes of his own, and they involve her father. Ruth stakes her claim to the Moretti throne anyway. The price is steep: her mother’s life.
Okay… I know one is not supposed to have favorites, but yeah… Ruth is my favorite kind of heroine. Maybe I am biased because she is the only female and, like me, has a strong personality. It was so much fun writing her story.
So there you have it: three siblings, three choices, and one family legacy on the line. Pick your favorite dynamic and dive in — every book delivers a guaranteed happy ending.
